We are operational again!
UNDERTREES has finally re-started and we are looking forward to the first Training School on 26-30 September in Pisa, Italy, titled “Agroforestry and ecosystem services toward sustainability of farming systems”. See you there!
UNDERTREES is funded by a mobility grant to foster staff exchanges between project partners. Unfortunately we had just had our Kick-Off Meeting in Pisa at the end of January 2020 when the COVID emergency impacted the world over. Since then, we haven’t been able to implement any secondments due to health and safety concerns and restrictions on international travel.
We were looking forward to meeting in person, but this is being delayed now. While training and learning activities that can be converted online are currently being adapted to our internal MS Teams as platform, we have also decided that we could use this time to create spaces of learning and discussion where we can use this opportunity to get to know each other better and create an informal way to keep in touch and share views, opinions and suggestions, interesting information and videos.
UNDERTREES focuses on land uses and complex farming systems that have great potential to combat climate change and provide a wide range of ecosystems services, including social, cultural, economic and policy-related ones. Our project aims precisely at having a holistic approach to understand and evaluate these complex systems. The wider impact of this approach is the potential to create or restore safer environments and societal contexts that adopt the principles of agroecology for sustainable and resilient futures.
